Start of a crest?
Start of a crest?
This cactus seems to start on a crest or something similar.

Re: Start of a crest?
that looks pretty cool
And as the walls come down and as I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade recalling all of the times
I have died and will die.
It's all right.
I dont mind
I dont mind.
I DONT MIND

That's cool, seems like only part of the plant wanted to crest (or maybe go monstrose?)
A cactus and succulent collector who especially likes Ariocarpus. …Though I have a bit of everything! Want some pictures? See my flickr! I also do art and such.
Re: Start of a crest?
Hard to tell from the photo but it almost looks as though the epidermis has split from taking water on too fast, since I would expect a crest to be covered with areoles like the rest of the body?
Re: Start of a crest?
There was no sudden split, it has happened gradually this season, although it seems a bit bloated (and pupping madly), maybe it's some form of monstrosity. Well, I'll just have to wait and see if it's taking over the world
Re: Start of a crest?
Don't stand to close to it in case it suddenly mutates and grabs and devours you!
