Re: NEED HELP FINDING OUT THE NAME OF THIS CACTUS
Joints or stems need to have new soft sappy growth to graft on. Old hard lignified growths do not take scions very well. People often grow their grafting stocks under the greenhouse staging's before grafting to provide new softer growth to graft on. After the grafts have taken they can gradually be introduced into full light and then grown normally.
Phil posted this convenient Dutch method of grafting on Opuntia pads using tiles on the BCSS Forum:-

Re: NEED HELP FINDING OUT THE NAME OF THIS CACTUS
There is a subforum specifically for cactus identification. More people would see probably your post there. The smaller plant in the pot is Stenocereus pruinosus, but I'm not sure what the big one is.

You are posting at present in "General" so continue down the column until you find either "Cactus Identification" or "Succulent Identification":-

M. geometrizans is a rather bluer colour than that one (but still not as blue as the stone of Galveston!!).
But of course there are masses of columnar spiky cacti that all look very similar.
