I think with a lot of the nurseries that supply the general non specialist cactus trade as well as collectors you get the usual mass market "consumer" cacti in shops or garden centres and then occasionally they will lump in the odd "end of runs" specialist collectors cacti to clear their benches of the odd one or two now too few to separately list in their catalogues to make room for fresh seed raisings or propagations, so it's always worth looking.
I once found a nice Coleocephalocereus (Buiningia) brevicylindrica at a local garden centre.

Just found an Austrocephalocereus dolichospermaticus at a CVS pharmacy. Was with a lot of common stuff and would not be long for sitting in a soaking wet tray in a peat ball.
A nice rescue I thought.
Didn't know CVS had plants?? Will check it out!

WalMart find
I just bought a Helianthocereus poco at Walmart for $5. It will probably die in Sparks NV, but It is worth a try. I will plant it later today in a 12" pot beside a Silver Cholla. I might cover it in winter just to see if it will survive.

Living at the extreme limit of the Sierra Nevada Mts. where cactus can still grow.
