a stunning display!
With apologies to the late Professor C. D. Darlington the following misquotation springs to

Speechless, except for it REALLY loves that Tucson soil!
Catch a falling star--but don't try it with a cactus!

What would have been called Trichocereus at one time Hendry. Surprising what plants that are mostly used as grafting stocks can do if you grow them as specimen plants themselves. When you de-pup a grafting stock grow an offset on and see.
Not as big as Martin's, but this T. schickendantzii was just an offset off a grafting stock and started flowering as a single stem about 9" high (it was about 12 inches high in the picture). Some Trichocerei need to be taller to flower though.
Why many who have to grow in greenhouses don't grow them, unlike Martin's open ground example, is they eventually take up too much space which could be occupied by many smaller rarer plants.
