I wonder if the hardy species will survive in Alaska, unprotected (or at least unheated but protected from rain and snow).

Well the good thing for me is I get unlimited electricity and heat for free. So I have no problem heating and lighting quite well. They won't be outside in winter. And I don't know how they will do. Ive got a lot of free time to kill though. I am actually right on the ocean so I have very very mild weather. Its been above freezing every day since the new year so far. Just lots and lots of rain =/
I am also excited because they will be getting a lot of light in the summer. About 21 hours of natural sun. Though only about 12 hours of that will be direct. Then it'll be over the mountains.
All I know is that the vegetables love it up here. Try a 50lbs (23kg) head of cabbage. Everything thrives in the summer. Its unreal. Its just the winter I'm worried about. I also have the living room with 4 65" by 48" (1.6m by 1.2m) so there is ample sun when its actually up.

Very nice choices, lots of mesembs Aiko and cacti for deerhuntin!
Does the deposit mean they've been able to fulfill the entirety of your order or does that mean they just got to it and will hold the money till they sort through what they have ?

No deposit for me too. I just get a quote, pay it, and then they send the seeds. I only like to pay for what I ordered (if I would like substitutes, I would just order those, wouldn't I!). If species are sold out, I expect the quote to be lower than if my order would be fulfilled.

I still haven't gotten my order filled or heard back from them(ordered 1-9). Guess I'll call them. Decent prices if they would ever get back to me.

George def give them a call hope they can get it sorted for you.
I might give a call as well, don't fully understand the deposit thing either, I assumed it meanty order was fulfilled so confused ....

Aiko you seem to be a mesemb fiend do you have any seed sowing tutorials or such?

Got a request for a deposit a few days ago. First time ever they've asked me for that, and my order is the same size as usual. Must be a change in policy for certain size orders?

Anyway, I also ordered on 1/8 and apparently my order is now 'close(r) to done but not quite'. So if you ordered on 1/9, my guess is that you're some ways down the queue still.

HA! I just contacted MG and the deposit doesn't guarantee that the order can be filled it's just to ensure you don't bail as apparently some people not so nicely do. They got several hundred orders ~500ish on the 8th they're still working through those lol. I'm not getting anything : :|

Don't worry. As long as you haven't ordered any of the rarer ones, or not only Lithops, I am sure most of your order will be fulfilled. What have you ordered?

Yeah ... I did order a few of the rarer things lol. :|
My order was mostly Aloinopsis, Antimia, Conophytums, Delosperma phyllobolous, Rhinephyllums, and titanopsis. A few from each group.
I'm dying to get conophytum calculus and stephanii and lithops salicola Bacchus those have been on my wishlist for awhile now.
I'm thinking of joining the mesemb study group, maybe they'll have these seeds ? Idk :(
Conos paradise has stephanii for sale but plants not seed.
