Cool, thanks for that. One question, though. My spotter sent me a crappy phone pic. I'm not sure if there is actually red on the petals or not, it might just be that the stamens are red. Does that matter, or is any red=setispinus?

Any red in the middle should tell you T. setispinus as you can see comparison here:

Most excellent. Then I can confirm that at least some of these labelled as hamatacanthus are really setispinus.

Would ssp. sinuatus be included in that group?

This is my Hamatocactus seedling that I grafted. It has a red center.
I have another that looks exactly like this one but the entire flower is yellow with no red center.
