Re: New Kind of Spam
Gone - thanks!
Incidentally, I had another forum setup on another web page just for testing. I didn't have any anti-spam as the page was not promoted or easy to find. It sat idle for a long time and I didn't think about it. Then I noticed on the Cpanel login that a bunch of disc space was being used on that domain. I looked and SPAM bots posted hundreds of thousands of messages in a very short time. Since it was a test site, I just deleted the whole thing. It sure made me realize how much spam the anti-bot questions block. I think the spams we get are posted by "work from home" actual humans - making 10 cents for every hundred posts or something silly like that.

Re: New Kind of Spam
Ivan,
Well I can't take too much credit, it is an add-on function for PHPBB. We get the occasional spammer here even with it. We could go to 100% spam-proof, but to do so would require manual activation for new users. This I think should be only a last resort as it would discourage new members - especially those with ID questions.

You Americans don't buy enough English kitchens and they need to advertise.Steve Johnson wrote:And here's another one:Ivan C wrote:Got another one!
