The passing of a good freind and member of this form.

It is with sadness that I post this message.

Our good friend, and fellow member Chris Earhart aka: Birdguy has passed away. He was a valued member of this group, freely sharing his extensive knowledge and insight. It goes without saying, his presence will be missed.

I learned of his death through mutual close friends.

On a personal note, I will always remember his generosity and good humor. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to know him.

Thank you for updating us on this.

We all have some time where we just can't post on the forum for a while. I noticed Chris wasn't posting lately, but sure didn't expect this to be the reason.

This is incredibly tragic news. I have often mentioned that when I'm out and about, I take pictures of things I see thiking specifically of people here that I'd like to show them to. Chris is one of those guys that I thought of often. His knowledge of all plants (not just cacti) was extremely impressive. His posts were always kind and interesting. I already miss having him around.

Very sad news. I did not know him personaly, but learned much from his posts. My condolences to his family.

Oh no.I suspected something must have beeen terrribly wrong for him to not be posting.This is really a bummer.Chris was a nice guy.

Like many others, I only knew Chris through this forum. We shared many plant interests and books as well. I will greatly miss his keen and enquiring mind and cheerful sharing of knowledge.

Over the years, I have bid goodbye to quite a few long time and dedicated plants people. (I'm showing my own age now

) I hope that his memory will live on though his contributions and mentoring of others in this forum.

Maybe, someday, our ashes will blow against the same desert plant seedling and nourish a new start.

In the relatively short time I have been on the forum I came to look forward to anything posted by "Birdguy". I will miss him, and wish his family, and his birds, well.

This news hits me hard! I had tremendous respect for Chris and always learned something from his posts. He will definitely be missed.
