I sowed some Frailea grahliana seedlings last October and I was wondering if I should separate them.
Do I separate them when they get to a certain size? Are they too young to repot? they're only about seven months old.
The pot they're in is a little over an inch across to give an idea of their size.
Thanks to those who'll respond
When to separate seedlings?
Re: When to separate seedlings?
When they start to crowd eachother would be a good time. And at the looks of it, they are busy doing just that.

So after a few more months?

Re: When to separate seedlings?
Rather small plants for individual pots. You could separate them and sort by size, put the larger, faster growing ones together in one pot, the smaller ones in another. Or you could do like Wilk, and just transfer the whole mass to a larger pot - viewtopic.php?f=16&t=32475&p=332921#p332921
They don't mind being quite crowded at this stage, you could do it now or wait a while - your choice.

Thanks Spence!
Should this species's taproot be taken into consideration when deciding to repot?
Will they have started to form their taproots at this age or will they get them when they're a bit older?

You don't have to repot them in individual pots. I hardly do that. I usually just thin them out, by spreading the seedlings over into two or three pots of the same size.greenknight wrote:Rather small plants for individual pots.

Re: When to separate seedlings?
Yep, I'd probably just dump the whole pot in one twice the size and a bit deeper and then gently ease the rootball apart without disturbing them a great deal so that they just have a bit more space to develop but don't get to much root disturbance. At same time you might extract some of the really small ones which may be suffering from being overcrowded by their bigger siblings.
