Do you use the same method of repotting in wet medium with your Ariocarpus? Do you use any anti-fungal product? I would never think of doing it that way, but if it works for you it is definitely worth looking into.

I use wet-medium for the repotting of all small cactus seedlings including Ariocarpus.

I do not use fungicide for my standard repotting but it was used as a trial from this autumn.
I spray fungicide over potting-mix top before making holes for the planting.
Seedlings should not contact with the fungicide.

I sowed seeds of A. fissuratus on 30th September 2006.
The success rate of the germination was not too bad but I lost many seedlings by various reasons.
Only 6 have survived.
4 of them, around 8 cm in diameter were in flower in this afternoon.

I made a space in wet-boxes and repotted 25 seedlings of retusus v furfuraceus cv Suguri-cauliflower in this morning.
Currently just 2~3% of seedlings show the character of good cauliflower.
I have to sow many seeds and select good seedlings.

Before repotting
Seeds were sown on 17th July 2014 in a 10 cm square pot.

The winter time started from last Sunday and it was pushed one hour backward.
The working early in the morning has been easier.
14 of A. bravoanus v hintonii seedlings were repotted in this morning.
Seeds were sown 14th September 2012.
Seedlings of hintonii grow very slowly.

I repotted 100 seedlings of A. retusus v furfuraceus cv Suguri cauliflower into 10 cm square pots, 25 seedlings each early in this morning.
I have to repot around 250 more seedlings of same species sown seeds in 2014.
The photo is after the repotting.

You have this down to an artform =D> , I dont even grow Ariocarpus but the attention to detail is so impressive.
Do you grow anything else from seed or is your focus exclusively ariocarpus?

Although main species are Ariocarpus and Astrophytum, some other species are also propagated from seeds.

Since there are no domestic cactus seed suppliers and is not easy to import cactus seeds in this country, I just use seeds harvested from my plants.
Numbers of species are limited.

The repotting on 16th allows to make a space for 4 pots in a wet-box.
I repotted 100 seedlings into 4 of 10 cm square pots in this morning.
Seeds were sown in 2014.

(19) A. retusus v furfuraceus cv Suguri cauliflower

Hello. You have a really nice growth rate on your seedlings, I think I gave mine too much light in the beginning, so they turned dark brown, but luckily they still grow. Is there any reason why you plant them so high in the media?
