yes I just drop them in there, maybe 1 out of 50 grow ? Usually older seeds or common types. Eventually I take them out and pot them up like shown .

Some lithops from seed 2 years old and various other cactus about 4 years old. Mammillaria sanchez-mejoradae bottom left and M. roseocentra bottom right, hard to tell apart at this size. And some mixed odds and ends put together to save space.

It's wonderful to see them so nicely arranged in pots ;-)
You really have lots of M. Minima, they surely look decorative in older age and the flower is stunning

Mammillaria herrerae yes I can. Not too hard to grow but seeds are hard to get. I think they are 5 years old ? Maybe 4 years for the albiflora. My own seeds :D

Seed germination 2019. The turbinicarpus came right up so did the Astrophytum. No luck with Mammillaria herrerae. Germinating in a pumice mix with extra sand . Started March 3rd and all are exposed to air now but still inside the house on a heating PAD. They will go outside when it warms up.

3 seedlings of M. herrerae did finally germinate out of about 20 seeds. Maybe more will germinate this year when I start watering again and it gets warmer ?

I missed 2018 posts but did germinate a few cactus. The seedlings go dormant during Winter and are just waking up. The Mammillaria gemispina grow pretty fast compared to most cactus I grow from seed. lophos are from Aiko :D :D :D and shrivel during Winter like a deflated balloon.

Is that crushed red brick your using in your mix? I was thinking of using that myself as it seems pretty cheap here! Your seedlings look very good :)

Is that crushed red brick your using in your mix?" Yes I think so it's called Turface here and is used on baseball infields to keep it dry. I mix it with pumice. Smaller sized than most pumice so its better for seedlings.

"Turface is a high fired calcined clay that is one of the best additives for bonsai soil mixes or any other soil mix that requires moisture retention as well as great drainage. Due to its rock like consistency, Turface will provide small air pockets in your soil which promotes strong root growth and water drainage."

Mine are about the same size, maybe even a bit smaller. I think I have sown them in 2012, so are now seven years old. They are flowering for the first time for me. Well, at least the flower is developing at this moment. Should not take long before they open up.

Hopefully for you yours are faster!
