They are both fantastic. But then I think any animal is fantastic. I bet Izzy keeps you on your toes. Our dog Peggy is said to be some sort of Austrailian shepherd. She must be 4-5yrs old now but still plays and has the energy of a puppy. When we first took her in she was terrified of everything and trembled consistantly for days. Now she has complete freedom but never wanders anywhere unless we are with her. She's brilliant. If Izzy turns out even half as good as her I am sure you will be amazed, we have always had a dog since we were married 45yrs ago and each one was special especially the lab.but his nose just got the better of him and he would wander off if you took your eyes off him for a second but Peggy the most obedient, faithful, and loving that I have ever seen, and we have never even had to teach her it came natural.

Here's Peggy

Owning a dog is a wonderful thing. Not only do dogs provide lasting companionship and unconditional love, they’ve also been known to lower blood pressure and reduce stress. And of course, a dog will make sure you get out and take walks every day. Living with a dog has also been known to boost the social skills and confidence of children and adults alike. i love my pitbull :)

Aaaaaah!!! Absolutely gorgeous. We had seven strays turn up at our house several years ago. Plus a very sad one had that arrive before them plus her one surviving kitten, then ther was the one that we had from a friend before all of these arrived. They all have their own characters don't they? One by one we have lost all of the older ones and are now left with the two youngest. We do miss them though, each one was special. Lovely photos, enjoyed looking at them and it brought back many nice memories of our "cat pack."

p.s.-only counted fourteen in the photos. Did the others escape you? I know what it's like, every time I get the camera to get a special photo, they move or disappear :( That's animals for you)

You are right Susi, they all have their own character, they are all different. I love this: it's like when you met new persons, you never know who you'll met. Isabella is the last cat that has been rescued she is playful and happy now, very calm and she knows her name, before she was so nervous and scared instead, poor girl. At the moment I'm trying to rescue 2 cats (male) who are ill-conditioned. One has only 1 eye, the other is losing the teeth.
hehehe you can only count 14 because I have no pic of Policarpo and Maruzzella. They don't like the camera :D But you can see my beloved Birba (my avatar picture), she passed away in november 2012, but she still in my heart and I thin k she will stay there for the life. She was my 'personal' dog and in 14 years we have enjoyed so many things together and she was always present when I was crying. I know it can be strange, but she was really more than a cat to me. She just couldn't talk, but it was easy to understand her anyway.
I have seen the pic of your Peggy, she's so beautiful, seems so smart and attentive. Don't you have any pic of your cats? I really miss a dog..I had 2 german shepherd (female) in my life and they were so sweet. Soon or later I'll have to rescue a small dog.

Thank you Susi and gemhunter!!!

You have said it all there Micaela. My husband never wanted a cat, but after moving here he began to realize a cat would be a good idea even for just keeping the mice down, and when we lost one of our dogs that we had brought with us from England, I was so upset and it just happened that this lady that we knew had these kittens. That was it! He loved that cat so much, and then when the strays started arriving, (the first one was all dead when she arrived) he hadn't got the heart to refuse them, and I could never turn my back on any animal in need if it is in my power to help them. We also had two German Shepherds, They're fantastic aren't they? I will start posting some photos of them all in the next few days, starting with my first little Pekingese, Picola. I have also noticed that people who have just one cat don't realize the full potential and powers of these animals, as normally they are conditioned to living how they want them to be. Whereas when they have other cats around their natural gifts and characters disallowed - see forum rules. I just can't imagine a life without animals around, and it is very strange not having all the others still, but Mitzi, the one in the photo just wouldn't tolerate other cats around now. She always stuck to her mother who spoilt her so much and always treated her like a baby, so that when she died I had to replace her mother as she pined so much. Now she is the boss and we are the workers. But wouldn't change her for anything.

Hi Susi :)My father was exactly like your husband: no cat, only 1 dog. Then we had our first cat named Merlino, a wonderful red cat, so smart. He was also the sweetest cat of the world, but he took the heart of my dad, acting like a perfect lion: this is my land, this is my home, this is my family, I will stay because I have chosen you. After Merlino, more than 30 years ago, we had so many cats..but always and only male. My parents (I was only a child, about 8-9 years old, and my opinion wasn't relevant) thought that male cats were useful and easy to care. So we haven't had female cats for years. Until 1997. That year in my garage borned Birba from a stray cat. Birba changed everything. At the moment I have 16 cats: 13 female, 3 male. All are neutered, obviously. I, exactly like you, couldn't turn my back on any animal in need, that's why I helped and help cats, hedgehogs, toads, lizards and some wild birds too. I also agree with you when you say, in another post, that it's impossible to grow an animal to eat it. I would be a so bad farmer.. And your opinion about the difference between who has only 1 cat and who has many, is correct too. Who has 1 cat tends to teach it as if it would be a dog. Having more than 2 cats lets to enjoy all their character hints . You are right, german shepherds are fantastic.
I'll wait for new pics from you then ;)

hehe kitties are cute. At the moment the outside feral cats have all had their kittens. This year 4 of them are very social with us when we sit out on the back porch. It's a rough life for outdoor cats, but they are all so cute. And all cats have their own personalities. My cat is a naughty kitty. I will have to update her picture :)

Yes please Peter! I'm so curious (as a cat hahaha) to see the pets of you all. I also have a feral cat, she lives here in years, but she never let us to touch her. I could capture and spay the cat anyway.

yes, well these feral cats would be hard to capture. They are truly feral, and while the outdoor kittens are curious, some don't have their eyes open yet. Maybe we can catch some someday, but that would result in them going away.. if they can't have any kittens. 1/2 out of the 4 they usually have don't make it past a few months old.. It's kinda sad, but at the same time.. they are a part of the family, even if they won't let us hold them and pet them.

As for my kitty I will try and get good pics of her.. she's spoiled rotten, AND has a tendency to move around a lot.. (which means I have lots of pictures of a blur of fluffy kitty. She's long haired sorta like your kitty Poldo.. :)

I understand what you say. I have to spay/neuter the feral cats around my garden instead, because I already have 16 cats and they cost a lot as you can imagine. The kittens tend to be less feral and they will stay..from 16 to 30 in few months and more and more. I should declare that I have a cats colony, some neighbore couldn't be so happy about this. Near to me lives my daddy's brother and his family. We have no relationship with them since the son of that man (I don't want to call him cousin) shot at my cats with pellets. He shot at kittens too...no one died but Giulietta still have a pellet near her heart and it cannot be removed, she also had surgery because the intestine was perforated.. I think there's no need to say how much I despise that family. I wanted to report this things to the police, but the brother of my dad is a police man (his son is a police man now too) :-& So we preferred to build a big wall between our houses and between our families. They are dead to me.

What's the name of your cat? and the color of her long hair?

I have the 2 missing pics and some more...LOL

hehe the hedgehog is cute. Not many people enjoy lots of feral cats around. At one time many just sort of disappared. We think a guy was setting out poisoned food, but have no proof. My cat's name is Eve, but I call her Puddy Cat , from the cartoon, and she is funny like that. She is a silvery color that has some tan/brown in her fur color. She is a long haired tabby. I will take a pic tomorrow if I remember lol
