It's that one blue eye. That's a common trait in Australian shepherds.
There is also great variety in the Aussie's eye color. An early nickname for the breed was "ghost-eye dog". Aussie eyes may be any shade or hue of brown, or blue; they may have two different colored eyes, or even have bicolored or "split eyes" (for example, a half-brown, half-blue eye), which appear to be linked to the merle coloration. Merled eyes occur as well, where one color is mixed in and swirled with another. Any combination of eye color is acceptable in the breed standard, so long as the eyes are healthy. In general, however, black Aussies (self, bi-color or tri-color) tend to have brown eyes, while red (self, bi-color or tri-color) Aussies tend to have amber eyes, though these Aussies may also carry the blue eyed gene.

My daughter wanted a pet cemetery and she was the one to take care of it. 4 years later guess who is taking care of it now? That's right, Dad! We never forget our pets.

That is so nice. We have all ours buried close to each other, and I often have a word for them when I pass. They are never forgotten are they?

What super photos ! I love this thread. Here's a pic of Ellidu a stray that adopted us a few years ago. She was the most nervous of all the strays that arrived (8 in all) eventually they all ended up in the house with us and the dog. All adapted well and learned their names etc. apart from Ellidu. We often joked saying that must be deaf as she never re-acted when we called her. Then one day I tested her by clapping my hands behind her. Nothing. She is deaf. I now use lots of sign language with her, and one of her favourite pass-times is watching tv in the winter, especially the nature programme which is broadcast daily. he is still a very nervous cat if anyone arrives but has learned to trust us.

She is soooo cute! Our dog didn't like the snow at all at one time. That was until I encouraged her out and started playing snowballs etc.. with her, then she couldn't get enough. As with most animals it depends on how you re-act that makes or breaks their fears and dislikes. You're going to have a job keeping her in now I think Tracy.

dunno, I love storms, but all the dogs I have ever been around are terrified of the thunder. The dogs that I have been around have never seen snow. ;) It rarely snows here. Snowed up in the mountains today.

Tracey your doggy is cute playing in the snow :)
Here's to you, all you insidious creatures of green..er I mean cacti.

:? We have never had a dog that was afraid of storms. We once took in our daughter's dog who was afraid of them but I cured of her fear by making a bit of game out of it. When it lightened I just talked and played with her and ignored the thunder if she didn't re-act she got a treat if she did re-act I just ignored it. Dogs re-act according to their owner's behaviour as a rule. We even had a Pekingnese who just loved to watch fireworks in the neighbour's garden on bonfire night.

Tracey, your dog's a real cutie. :)

None of our dogs were afraid of thunder.

One of my cats, however, hated storms. I could always tell when one was coming because he'd go to the very back of the apartment and sit hunched up on the bathroom counter. He didn't freak out or cry; he was just determined to sit where he felt safest until all the loud noise was over.

His brother, on the other hand, would sit in the window and watch the leaves get blown about. Even when there were fireworks fairly close to our place he'd sit in the window and watch all the people who came outside to watch the fireworks.

Lovely photos. Thanks for sharing, made my day. We have had visitors over the fetive season, and they just don't seem to want to go home. They come from a farm about a couple of miles away. Used to turn a few years ago but we haven't seen them around for quite a while now until this year that is. Turned up day before Xmas. Was thinking of doing a live Nativity at one point.
