Re: Citrus trees and cacti & succulents
I do grow several varieties but unfortunately don't know all the cultivars' name in english. In addition, most are now out of season and have no fruit.
Here are the ones around the house.
This is one of the oldest ones, the trunk is around 14 inches wide and it's as tall as my house (around 26-27 feet). It covers completely one of my bedroom windows and extends to my coffee balcony. It's very prolific and produces heaps of flowers and fruits. This ine is used for juice only as it's hard to peel: Another one still with fruits: Dwarf navel orange: Mandarine: In the back there's a blood orange i forgot to take a photo of.
Tangerine: Kumquat: This one i don't know the name of but it's very sour then becomes very sweet when ripe. View from the top of my 19 feet water reservoir: It is one of the earliest bloomers: Lemons: These are the varieties i have around the house. I have an orange orchard with all these varieties along with bitter orange, pomello, grapefruit, clemantine, calamondin, mandarine, tangerine, valencia oranges...
There's a variety where the fruits are very sweet even when they are still very young and have a musky taste to them.

Beautiful! Just don't put small cacti or succulents under those: falling fruits can smash them.
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.

Nothing grows under orange trees as the foliage is very dense and blocks light completely. The only thing that would survive are some native arums and nettles.
Placing plants under kumquats is a very different matter though
What i'd worry about are the avacodos. I've had a fruit weight almost 3 pounds. Falling from 10 meters it would have some serious kinetic energy
