This is a good time of year for some unusual (for this forum) plants in my yard:

Never have ID'd this one, but it blooms at Christmastime, and is pretty gaudy!

I wonder if your brom is Billbergia nutans. I have grown it for many years and the flowers are very similar if not the same if I am remembering correctly.
Forget the dog...Beware of the plants!!!
