Birds!
Re: Birds!
Wow, great sightings! I wonder if this endless winter is causing birds to hang out in areas they don't normally go.

Re: Birds!
That is a great sighting.
I'm sure the weather is going to make it easier to spot birds in unusual places. I believe I would take a detour if I had to head into unseasonably cold weather!

It’s not the fall that kills you; it’s the sudden stop at the end.

I just saw a Magnolia Warbler out my window - bouncing from one snow-covered branch to the next. Poor guy!

Here is a video I put together of some various birds around the house here. (except for the last one which was down the road from here)
Anyway, I picked the first instrumental music that was the right legth and it sounded kind of unobtrusive at first, but then it gets weird in the middle. I should change the song - so maybe you want to just watch with out sound. Or maybe you dig that stuff? Anyway, here you go:
(Changed the music since this was added)

Re: Birds!
Daiv, great video. The music was ok, you are right it did get kinda strange in the middle. The birds are interesting. Here we have red finches and rarely do we see golden finches. There are a few pairs of Cardinals. I tried to get a pic of the Female one but she flew away when I startled her.
I have also seen I think a Mockingbird here. I haven't heard it but.. and of course a few different types of woodpeckers, and we have a few types of doves, and we have Gambel's Quail, and a few others I am forgetting atm

Nice video with a lot of familiar faces. We used to have a TON of Blue Jays but when West Nile came through some years ago it wiped them out. They seem to be making a comeback though
Re: Birds!
Spring has sprung around here and the proof is in the birds...
The hawk is an immature Red Shouldered Hawk, and I'm not sure which Flycatcher that is, but there's a pair of them feeding babies in that bird house...
I also have a nest of Crows somewhere near here, but can't pin point it, and the Cardinals are full on nesting.
But the coolest picture of all is of this nest in the woods, 3 Red Shouldered Hawk babies...

Boy, look at that nice soft Spanish moss for a bed - those babies are spoiled!

Put this one up separately, it is two Red-Breasted Merganser males competing for a female:

More recent pictures of the hawk babies... they have many more feathers now!
