Can we use a non cactus plant?? Would a Cryptanthus fall under the succulents??

Yes Tracey you can use any old succulent for this :)
Cryptanthus does have succulent leafes, doesn´t it?

Thanks Jen, actualy Cryptanthus only has a few in the family that are have succulent leafs the rest dont..

It´s a nice plant anyway, a picture under white lights would be interesting to see just how red it naturally gets.

Hey Jen, i will get a pic of it in the sunlight if it gets sunny out today its been soooooooo cloudy and gloomy for so long now it hasnt had much sun in the window i had it in and i just seperated some larger pups from it 2 1/2 weeks ago and then i took it down to the plant room last week and put it under the lights. As you can see in that pic shes already got more pups growing.. :P She dont get red she gets HOT pink.. :D

Well i won't have one in my frontyard or in my backyard in my life. Unless i move across half of the world and buy me there a little house with it in already.

P.S I have some saguaros (supposedly) that I sow last autumn. Now they are about 5 mm high (if they are indeed saguaros for it was cacti mix that i bought)
