Echinomastus inertextus

Mammilaria grahamii

Mammilaria heyderi

Coryphantha echinus

Echinocactus horizonthalonius

That should start us off.

I was at 'sixes and sevens' about which photo to post ...this would be my favourite Echinocereus flower, to bad it doesn't flower so well here. This is the only time (so far) that I've had a flower on this one.

Lophophora fricii Mexico only?

Lophophora echinata = L. diffusa? Mexico only.

I'm stalling for time while I work out if I have any cacti from Texas worth photographing

I do have a few opunita from Texas but I had to go with a closeup of the little jewel O. pottsi.

I have several texas varieties but I like this because it shows not everything in Texas is big

Perhaps I'll dig up some Epithelantha photos? Escobaria minima? One of these little Ariocarpus that are almost extinct?

Yup, those are some small ones indeed

and a far cry smaller than O. pottsi

I see the guide has L. fricii listed as growing in Texas but the books i have do not list any other varieties other than L. williamsii.

Sorry, I assumed that all Lophs are native to Texas.

Do I have to change my entry?

Well, I've found distribution info hard to come by on subspecies and varieties. Fine-tunning that is an on-going project. If anyone sees things like this that need correct, give me a shout and I'll fix it.

Byron - rather than change the pic, how about change the name to L. williamsii?

L. echinata could refer to either of them...but from what i've seen it's mostly associated with L. diffusa.

I did mention that not all varieties and subspecies grow in Texas
