As Daiv said, detailed distribution areas are not always available or can be conflicting. So according to the books i have, only L. williamsii (the type) is said to grow in Texas, so thats how i'll work it.

Byron/Dustin,
Post the new pic here and i can change it for you.

Here's my re-entry

An Acanthocereus Tetragonus. I know it wasn't taken in Texas, but it's native to Texas. :)

I just spotted this and thought it would make a good Texas cactus. Does it matter that the seed came from Eddy Co. NM?

It doesn't have to physically come from Texas :)

Would anyone be interested in seeing a L.W. v. Texana graft or one on it's own roots, I can snap a quick picture.

OK, I did have a somewhat tough time making a decision about which plant to place in the contest. The runner-up - because I wanted to enter something that had not yet been submitted - was Echinomastus intertextus, the Early Bloomer, which is native all around where I live.
Here are two images that I almost picked from.

I do like especially the last photo. That plant, unfortunately, did die about a year and a half ago. I do have some replacement specimens and hope that they will fare better. The posted Ariocarpus fissuratus on the other hand is still around and doing fine.

Sorry Dustin, Only one varitey of E. pecinatus (v. wenigeri) comes from Texas.

However, you have E. rigidissimus v. rubipinus, but still not from Texas :(
