The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) recently posted this story on Medium... Madagascar drought creates “overwhelming needs”. I wrote a reply that's super insensitive and snarky. But if you dig through it you might find a kernel of truth. Or not.
For sure though I'd definitely love to be able to use my taxes to help start nurseries and intercropping farms in Madagascar and all the other developing countries with awesome plants. It would be a lot of wins situation! It would help lift people out of poverty and help their economy grow... it would increase the supply of awesome and rare plants... and it would allow me to purchase and grow more awesome and rare plants.
Is this a crazy idea? Well... it's definitely out-of-the-box thinking... which is the same thing as epiphytic thinking. Can you really blame me for epiphytic thinking?
