A new Avonia

Post by iann »

Avonia quinariodes was described last year. It looks a bit like A. quinaria in the wild, but is far more vigorous in cultivation.

This is the one I'm trying to batter down to habitat condition. You can see the A. quinaria-like stems at the base.

This is one given a bit more water. They adore the heat, I can only take a quick trip into the greenhouse for this photo.

Neat plant! To me it looks more like A. buderiana but with A. quinaria type flowers.
I'm now selling plants on Ebay. Check it out! Kyle's Plants

A. quinaria ssp alstonii also flowered today, much later in the afternoon.

That's so cool! Love how the flowers open up with the heat.
