Haworthia. What is the correct name?

Post by savant »

I am an avid Haworthia collector and just recently I bought an H. bayeri which has been on my want list for ages. Imagine my surprise when looking up my bayeri I found it to have a synonym of H. correcta which is one I've already got in my collection. Can some one please tell me they are different plants?

H. bayeri and H. correcta are the same species.
H. correcta have a more obtuse leaf tip, otherwise, they are just a type form of bayeri

There used to be plants called H. uniondalensis, which were just a locality form of bayeri with rougher leaf surfaces.

And to totally confuse the situation more, the Shultz book and some other folks are calling some forms of H. bayeri - H. pygmeae
And which I can't see any difference in the photos of the plants they are calling H. pygmeae

They are all H. bayeri.

Thanks for that info. It has puzzled me why the H. bayeri has always been a bit dearer on Ebay.
