Agave parryi truncata
Here's a few shots of my 6 to 8 year old Agave parryi truncatas, they are all doing great, real nice colors too. Martin

Re: Agave parryi truncata
Are that identical sextuplets? (Is that word even right?) Anyway sure seems like it.
Re: Agave parryi truncata
It is a beautiful agave, but the one I had was far too invasive for small spaces.
Yours dont look like they are offsetting to much yet.

Re: Agave parryi truncata
A. parryi will offset, but doesn't typically spread too far from the mother. It makes tight clumps, not a mess of babies where you don't want them! Tony, what kind did you have? I'm an agave evangelist and I'm sure I could make you some good recommendations...
Re: Agave parryi truncata
Im pretty sure it was V. truncata, I will see if I can dig up some pixs of the ol beast.
That thing sent its offests out on search and destroy missions, coming up right next to neighboring plants or coming up right in the middle of large cactus clumps up to four feet away from the mother.
I no longer have the plant or any of its offspring, I gave them all to Buck.
Thanks for the offer for recomendations, I really appreciate it, but I have all the Agaves I need at the moment, in ground and in pots.

Re: Agave parryi truncata
I have a v. parryi that's sending pups out a few feet, but my v. truncatas are as Melt says, always pupping very close to home, often too close.

Nice GS, Check this out. I found this old photo of my first a.p. truncata from 2003 and what it looks like today at sunset. Martin

Re: Agave parryi truncata
I don't believe that is v. truncata, looks more like v. parryi to me. Notice how the leaves are tapered rather than blunt, as in your other pics (as well as mine). Also, the terminal spines are longer and straighter; v. truncata spines are shorter and more squiggly.
