Both of my Brighamia insignis bloomed this fall.
We brushed pollen back and forth on the two, and the many fruit swelled after a couple weeks.

Then we had a cold spell, and on one of the plants, the flower bracts just turned to jelly and fell off.

After having this happen before on Brighamia rockii, I thought maybe I can save the other plant if I bring it into the house and keep it warm for a while.

Well it worked!
The other plant's fruit continued to swell and ripen.
And what weird fruit they are! The pods break open on the sides and ooze white sap.

After they open, they release the seeds by the hundred when the seed pod is shaken like a rattler, you can sees the piles of creamy seeds inside the pod in this photo.

I have a half a shot glass filled with seeds now
I'm not really sure when to sow this species, probably Spring would be best.

I guess we may be the only people that are selling these seeds, since a Goggle search came up empty.

We got a pile of this plant last November without a name.
At first I thought it was a Crassulaceae of some sort, and posted it on the Succulent ID thread.
No one knew what it was.

It started to bud a month ago, and as soon as I saw those buds I knew it must be a Senecio
So I looked in the Gordon Rowley Senecio book and after some time IDed it as Senecio galpinii

Love the Othonna

Othonna cakilifolia is one of the weirdest, large fleshy bulb in summer
weed like growth early winter and early spring die back.

This year was the first time I took a closer look at the flowers
and observed that they curl up at night into tight little curly queues

Hi, I'm interested in your succulent. Could you contact me? Your "place an order" seems do not work. Thank you!

I've always wanted to try Brighamia insignis. Is it easy to grow from seed?

I threw some Brighamia insignis seeds in our garden and they spouted after a couple days.
They look like bean sprouts at this age, not sure how hard they are to raise to adults.

I would assume as seedlings they like heat, strong light and a lot of water, since they come from rainy parts of Hawaii.
We leave our adult plants in the rain most of the year, but this year we took them in after a couple big rain storms.

Cheiridopsis denticulata SB620 Springbok, well-toothed leaves

The flowers grow each day and change color as they age.

Hi,
Is your web store C and D's open...? I've tried to reach out with a question 3 times through your "place an order" page where it states people can reach out for questions or orders. Each time I have not gotten any reply. It has been frustrating because the website says the store is open and yet, I've been trying to get in contact for a few weeks now. Hope I can hear back from you here

Our Web Site is closed for a month.
After Mesa Gardens stopped selling plants we were overwhelmed with orders.
We need some time to regroup and update our lists.

It seems that our Send an Order Form doesn't work all the time.
If you don't get a response after a couple days, try again.

If you don't fill out the full form including shipping address, it definitely may have problems going through.
