I bet there's already a nice promising caudex buried in the soil.

mesembryanthemoides, indeed...looks like a Gibbaeum. The G. heathii look great, I'll have to start some of those as soon as I can get G. album past the seed leaves stage. I think "sandworms" is right, but they were closely connected to spice. A B. bruynsii body and a tri-leaved Gibbaeum head would be about right!

Yes, one can take the B.bruynsii as a weird plant but I have to add - in a good way..
I find it beautiful and very interesting.
Well grown and compact looking G.heathii you have there.

Trachyandra flexifolia with flowers
distantly related to Bulbine, an African winter growing bulb, it looses all it's leaves in summer,
the flower smell is quite different than the Bulbine and is hard to describe other than sweet perfume.

Bulbine bruynsii update

I lost track of which ones were my original plants and which ones are seedlings,
since they come and go and you never know what will come back alive each fall

and I stick seedlings here and there in pots that seem to have a good soil

B. bruynsii seedlings after 3 months, they just started to germinate after 2 and half months

Here is a batch of other Bulbine seedlings after 3 months, they are much easier to germinate,
some unknown volunteers seemed to invade the pots, but I doubt they're will cause any worries
