Othonna herrei help

Got an Othonna herrei some weeks ago. Some of the leaf stems broke during shipping and days after I potted it, the leaves wilted. The base of the leaf stems felt a little soggy to the touch too. I thought it was rot so I cut off the mushy parts. The plant's been leafless since and there are no signs of new growth. How do I know if its's dormant or dead? Thanks
