Spider mites?

Post by absolute0 »

I recently bought an Echeveria 'Imbricata' and I noticed that its lower leaves tend to turn yellow quickly. The seller repotted it when I bought it so I'm thinking it might be experiencing stress from it. Also, I noticed that it's leaves have tiny black spots and some brown scars. Just yesterday, I noticed a really tiny insect. Could it be spider mites? For now I'm isolating the plant so if it has mites it wouldn't affect my other plants

It does look like something might be attacking it but you'd be able to see spider mites.

Will isopropyl alcohol work on spider mites? Will it harm the plant as well?

It will kill mites on contact and shouldn't harm the plants. Avoid spraying in very hot conditions, and always a good idea to test on an inconspicuous leaf or two first. Leaves that are already slightly damaged might get more damaged, but that is true of almost any spray.
