hen-and-chicks and shallow pots?

Post by forests-of-fire »

Do hen-and-chicks need especially shallow pots? I've lost all of mine, except one. And I think I'm losing that one too. ](*,) I think root rot might be the problem, even though I tried to put them in shallow pots. The roots were still there, but they had become spindly and sparse. The leaves had all dried up and turned brown, on all the hen and chicks.

Should I be planting them in bonsai-type pots? Or should I just mark them off as a plant that doesn't get along with me?

Change the soil. Then use a pot the same size as the roots. If the roots grow you can use a bigger pot next year.

Where do you keep them. Sometimes they just don't like it inside.

They're inside. I live in Ohio and it gets down to the low 30s some nights. Plus I don't trust the TONS of kids around here not to knock the plants off the porch.
