This Adeniums are making me crazy ....

Well, I need help. This two Adeniums are determined to make me crazy. No matter what I do, eventually become like this:

One year I tried to winter them in cold place, next two years I tried to winter them in worm place with wattering. Last year in GH they became beautiful and bigger one flowered also. This year during winter they become like this again.
Do you have any advice what else to try ?

What kind of light do they receive in the winter? What kind of temperatures are they exposed to in the winter? How often are they watered?

As long as they stay firm they are OK even if they look bad. If they become soft, then you're in trouble.

You say they were in the greenhouse in the warm months (I assume). Why do you move them in the winter? Do you heat the greenhouse? If you can keep the greenhouse above freezing and the plants pretty dry they should survive. Dropping leaves is pretty common in times of stress for these plants. If you don't heat your greenhouse in winter then put it in your house in a bright window. Adeniums are tropical plants so even though they might tolerate lower temps, they really prefer warm.

If you have fungicide, spray them....If you can, collect the leaves and burn them.
Please also check if the tips of branch get rotten. if they do, cut until you get fresh stem

All of this can't hurt. But adeniums do throw leaves off during winter, unles they are on warm place. But then they get etoliated becouse the light is often too low. We live in much cooler climate than you, Hendry.

Thank you for your advice. I am glad if this really is only resting.

It looks like I don`t water them enough - during this winter I put them in a non-heated room and they got water only one time since november. Last year I put them in a heated room an watered them and it wasn`t any better. And also during summer they were very poor, I gues that was becouse they didn`t get water and fertilizer them enough. Smallest one I bought 4 years ago from a collector and it didn`t get any bigger and it has never flowered. Bigger one is a bit younger, bought 2 years ago and has a few flowers last summer.

When shall I cut tops away? May I fertilize them now or shall I wait for summer?

Hendryturok is right during the winter when growth is slow they tend to get fungi. Trimming all the leaves helps a lot with this problem. My Adenium never flowered during the winter until I started doing this. Now it flowers year round and that's without water during winter.

I did it today with my "same-as-yours" freak adenium from Holland.

It has nice healthy root:

When it starts to grow, I will cut it. Until then I might give it a little watter, but not just yet (at least for 2 weeks).

Yes, nice root system indeed. I repoted mine last year and roots were ok.

What kind of soil do you use for adeniums?

Pumice/compost 50/50. Nuked!

Maja, you nuke compost?

What is the difference between pumice and volcanic sand? In properties I mean? Mine are planted in mix of volcanic sand and commercial substrate for flowered plants. Not nuked .....

Volcanic sand may contain a lot of pumice, you can often see the little bits of pumice if you look closely. The more pumice it has, the more pore spaces that help to aerate your potting mix.

Around here they use volcanic sand for builder's sand (it's volcano country). I've seen piles of it sit out in the rain, lots of little white bits rise to the surface. I imagine if you sprinkled some in water, a lot of it would float.
