I do not know what this succulent is.
It is in my boss' office and she was asking me about it. If you know what it is, that would be fantastic. Thanks, as always.

Re: I do not know what this succulent is.
General appearance like Alluaudia, but:
Normally all members of this genus are heavily spined. The only species sometimes without spines is A. humbertii, but the leaves are not as oblong as at your plant.
The leaf-scars or short shoots are very unusual. Stems of Alluaudia have a smooth surface.
Did you brake off a small part of the plant to look for latex? (Euphorbia or Euphorbiaceae)

Hi jfabiao
That's a very good suggestion. The leaves and the short shoots fit perfectly. The only missing feature is the dichotome growth which I cannot detect at the two photos, which is however mentioned in the encyclopedia of cactus-art. Furthermore, the plant-families of Ceraria (Portulacaceae) and Alluaudia (Didieraceae) are very closely related to oneanother. I think that Brontosaurus should make his boss some compliments about the interesting Ceraria in her office!
