Hello,
We've had this for several years, and up until a few months ago it had always been the same shape. Somewhat flat but really nice leaves and colors. We noticed that the leaves around the outer edges started dying and then it started growing what we refer to as tentacles.
The tentacles just grew and grew and now we've noticed the small flowers on the tentacles.
What is it?
Is this normal? Are we doing something wrong?
Is it going to crawl out of the basket and start walking?
Any help would be appreciated.
David

Looks like a Dudleya. I'm not sure which one. The leaves look like the widespread D. pulverulenta but the flowers not so much.
It looks thirsty! It is a winter grower and appreciates a good drink when it isn't too hot. It looks fairly "authentic" for the middle of August. Or maybe you're in Arizona and it actually is the middle of summer already . Obviously not too stressed and producing plenty of flowers.

It is an Echeveria. Need to see the rosette a bit more open to nail down species.

Great info thanks folks.
What is it doing exactly, I'm assuming everything is normal.
I'll water it more, we ARE in AZ.
The little pink flowers are absolutely gorgeous, they almost glow.
I cant seem to capture this on my camera.

It is flowering. It is normal. Arizona summers might be stressful for this mountain species, but then it is a bit stressful for most plants I guess
