This was found growing on the coast of California. Can someone help me identify this. I apologize if it is blatantly obvious, I am just a beginner at plant identification.

Mesembryanthemum crystallinum. Annual, probably considered a weed in your location. Flowers are interesting but not exactly showy.

Somebody thought enough of it to introduce it to North America!
It's perennial in warm climates. It was widely planted in California as a ground cover, since it will grow where almost nothing else will and thrives with no care - sounds like the definition of a weed, doesn't it? Now they encourage people to plant something less invasive, but the cat is out of the bag.

I have seen it at 3 horse ranches where we have boarded (like a weed-yes, grows where nothing else will). I love the bubbly look it can get in neglectful times.
