please ID stapeliad, caralluma

please please help me identify this stapeliad, is it some kind of caralluma?
I will post another picture when the flowers open, may be in 2 or 3 days

Probably a Caralluma in the broad sense (the genus has been split up quite a bit). When the flowers open it will be MUCH, MUCH easier to give you a good ID.

not open yet, I had to put a holding stick because flower buds are getting heavy.

finally the flowers opened and they measure 2 inches in diameter,
the smell inside the green house is not like carrion or manure, smells like dry human pup in a hot sunny day,

Nice flowers! Turns out it isn't a Caralluma after all. It is Orbea melanantha.

Beautiful flowers despite the smell though. I am fortunate in this sense, I ruined my sense of smell a few years back when we moved over here as the house was infested and we had to fumigate it. It had been left abandoned for goodness knows how long I wore a mask but it still got to me and my husband made me go out whilst he finished the job. He didn't even protect himself properly and yet had no effects. When the Stapelia flowers though I tend to think that every cloud has a silver lining :?
