Mystery rescued Aloe?

Post by hardcoregeneral »

Hi there,

Can anybody help me identify this aloe?
I found it rotting in a freezing cold gents bathroom at the pub I sometimes work in. I dried it out and cut back the rotting roots and leaves and hoped for the best. Now it's thriving and in pride of place in the pub window!

I don't know its name though, can anybody help me identify it?

Thanks in advance.

To me it looks more like an Agave than Aloe (without being able to touch & feel t)

Definitely Agave, so more apt for a pub.

Looks like it could be Agave americana or something similar. It will get huge eventually. Keeping it in a small pot will help hold down the size, but even so you may have to remove the rosettes that get too big periodically to keep the thing manageable.

I'll second Saxicola's ID.
I'll grow it as long as it doesn't have glochids. Gaudy flowers a plus.

Definitely an Agave, hard to say which one. You might be lucky and have something not quite so huge, but I wouldn't bet on it.
