Help ID this Mystery Plant

Post by mwisegar »

Can you help identify this plant I found growing in an overlooked area of my yard? The "leaves" are fleshy and juicy inside, so I THINK it's a succulent.

- It was growing in very dry, hard, clay-y soil, getting lots of sun.
- Each of the little "leaves" is 1/2" or less long.
- In the sun, it SPARKLES! You can see in the photo.

Thanks, Marilyn

That's a Drosanthemum. It is a mesemb. Hard to know which species exactly, doesn't look like any I'm familiar with. There are hundreds but this is presumably a fairly common one? Flowers would help with the ID.

Looks like D. Eburneum.
