I bought this at a local market as a desert rose but somehow it looks more like a pachypodium. Can anyone help. thanks Rufus

Euphorbia milii, possibly one of the many thai hybrids.
Forget the dog...Beware of the plants!!!

I agree with Tony on the ID. Just for future reference, Desert Roses (Adenium) never have spiny stems. Pachypodiums can but you can tell them apart from Euphorbias because Euphorbias bleed white if you break a leaf.

Many thanks yes I did notice a white milky spot on the trunk at one stage.
