Anyone know what this is?

If you have a succulent plant and need help identifying it, this is the place to post it.

Anyone know what this is?

Post by adetheproducer »

I have got tons of this growing in my front garden. Its got think leaves about 15cm across, the stems are tuberous scaly and set of roots from everywhere. I have taken a few cuttings and pitted them up but intend to dig it all up and gret rid of it.

My fear begins to fade recalling all of the times
I have died and will die.
It's all right.

It's a Bergenia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bergenia" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) but I wouldn't know what species or cultivar it is though :-k I would think it's a pain to get rid of though from what I remember they grow from strong rhizomatous roots which spread outwards to increase it's range

Probably Bergenia crassifolia. That is the most commonly seen species and it looks more or less like what I remember that species looking like.
I'm now selling plants on Ebay. Check it out! Kyle's Plants

It's not hard to get rid of, I managed to kill what I had without even trying! :(

Seriously - the rhizomes run right along the surface. Easy to remove or to transplant.
