Those images brought back memories from my belated honeymoon trip to Yellowstone National Park. I remember those clear water pools, the Mammoth Hot Springs with the colorful sediments and the geysers with their sulfur emissions that smelled like rotten eggs. It certainly was an amazing trip and wel...

It is a nice painting. I like those hot pools in Yellowstone. The tube going down into the ground is so ominous looking. I always think they look bottomless. I've been to a similar, larger pool outside the park that someone had released tropical fish into back in the 50's and they are still there. ...

The time

What is up with the time? I mean like if I post something at 5: 00 my time, it shows up as 10 : 00 on the website forum page. Is there a function to sync. it together or is the site just running 5 hours ahead of where I live? ( I am guessing Europe time??? )

I asked a friend and he said S. whipplei as well. Thanks guys.

* Side note *
I did not take the cacti home, it was in a protected nation park for curious on-lookers. I just stood and took a picture.

Well Buck has kindly offered up his pic from this post: http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1192 That's a really good example of this craziness. Now just need a few of the removal/aftermath and it will be enough to start with. I'm going to have to be on the lookout for these too and rem...

I also see those " grub worms " while digging in the yard or just doing yardwork. Those are quite destructive in my area and I heard that they devour plant roots and destroy plants in general. I used them as fish bait, but I usually dispatch them when I find them in the soil.

Good that you didn't collect the Sclerocactus. Aside from being protected, they are quite difficult to grow, especially larger plants like that taken from the wild. One time a guy near St. George, UT contacted me about rescuing some from development. I had to pass as I knew I wouldn't be able to ke...
