Re: Is it not too big to be Mammillaria hahniana?
Great, I've got one a little smaller but offsetting like yours. I've been confused on the ID because of the offsets.
I got mine in a big box store with two other M. hahniana in the same pot.

Steve, I actually saw the photos in your thread. Very nice! Its nice to see growth on that old plant! It sure has a lot of character. I love your timeline photos, I don't notice the growth that much, but the photos show it well. I"ll have to dig up my oldest pictures of my oldest plants...

Yes, the first plant appears to be a Coryphantha.

Re: Help with Gymnocalycium
Oh, thank you. But what are those greenish pigments? It has this all around. Are you talking about the two light green spots low on the plant between the ribs? It just looks like standard mottling to me. I don't know what causes it, but I have a few plants that get mottled then return to normal, co...

Re: Smaller Astrophytum
That Lotusland variety is pretty small. I have some small A. asterias that is 5 cm and is technically an adult because they flower. But they aren't going to stop at that size.

Re: Help with Gymnocalycium
Is it the right side of the first pic? It looks like some mild sunburn to me. It shouldn't leave a permanent mark. Steve-O's advice is good. Gymnos will tolerate a range of environments. They get cranky when there is a sudden change. Aside from that, the plant looks nice.

I agree with Steve-O. Right now I have plenty of the type 2s above. Been looking for a type 1 on and off for a while. I will withhold my comments on the tufted plant.

Re: 2 species: Mammillaria, Coryphantha or Escobaria?
The problem with ID'ing small Coryphanthas is that they go through multiple stages of spine configuration, most of which don't give clues to the final form. It looks like this plant may be just starting to make adult spines. Do the tubercles have grooves from the ariole to the plant body on the upwa...

Re: ID Please
There was a massive one of these near where I used to live. It used to make masses of flowers at night in the summer. They are fairly common as landscape plants in Arizona.
Monstrose plants typically don't flower in my experience. Not sure if all of these flower.
