Re: Minor or major

PB,
I think it's daring to definitely identify a Pediocactus seedling that small.
And I cannot follow Fritz in calling all the small staying Pedio simps the same ssp in honor of Benson.

Re: crest in flower

Well, whoever Vlani in Mountain View is, he/she is rash in his/her judgement and Daiv is as well! :P Correct, it is doubtful that this plant is assigned to the right genus, but what makes you so sure it CAN'T be an Eulychnia? Here is the evaluation of Paul Klaassen about these photos: "What I s...

Re: Contest 68 : Discussion and related Pictures

...Did you ever have a flower on the grusonia ? It is another species that is rare in collections I think. I was tempted to throw my Grusonia (Marenopuntia) marenae away seweral times , but then it flowered- I wouldn´t give it away now anymore. Sure you shouldn't give it away... but you shouldn't p...

....I'll have to wait a couple of years before mine procreate... Dennis, that depends. I don't know yet if they are spring bloomers only or if this species is flowering intermittently all summer long. If the latter is the case they might do their thing this year already. if not they will flower for...

It is indeed! Best way to grow it: sow it in the place you want to grow it forever.

Re: Contest 64 : Discussion and related Pictures

Be careful with sowing Yucca seeds. It might get out of control like these volunteer seedlings of a Yucca whipplei which came up out of seeds distributed/left by the dead mother plant.

Re: Contest 63 : Discussion and related Pictures

You should give it a try! Using a juicy tip of a Penio and fixing it +/- horizontally on a section of the vascular bundle. Like I did in '06 on H. jusbertii. This season this grafting will be flowering for the 3rd year already. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v140/CactusJordi/Peniocereus/DSCF0006a...

Hi Buck,
why do you need 10 plants for this bloom fest? I can do that with only one plant :P
