I'd say it'a goner. Once it's rotting, you'll have to remove any rotted tissue to prevent it to spread. Remove ALL brown/soft/mushy tissue and see what's left. It seems to be rotting. The gymno cultivar would not survive alone. You could regraft some pups but you might simply want to buy another one. Rotting is usually the sign of too much water altough these things usually rot from the base.

The cuttings shouldn't be unhealthy. How long have you having the plant ? It seems to have freshly etiolated growth and to need much more light. If you plan on giving them the same sun exposure, you'll end up in the same position.
