I set my irrigation system for my trees to go off at 4:30am for one and 5:30am for the other. For my cacti I water them in day light mostly usually around either 10:30am or maybe a little later but I avoid the noon-2 PM sun as it's VERY strong here.

hahahaha They can try and take my cacti from me in Arizona, but I might throw a chunk of cholla at them, loosen a few pads of Opuntia, chop the arm off a dead saguaro onto them, or get them stuck in the spines of a hooked Mammilaria .. ;) hahahahaa after that they can pry my cacti from my cold dead ...

I know that our common local Yucca, (Yucca elata also called soaptree yucca as a common name) is perfectly happy growing on it's side. actually Dave, if you can get a word spelled right you can add it to a dictionary. So for instance, I got tired of having my spell checker trip when every I typed in common names like Opuntia and engelmannii so what you do is right click on the name and click add to dictionary.. hahaha Rich, I hope so too, but I dont want it to be too cold or wet. Lows in the winter are trending lower.. But who knows might just be a bad last 3 years or so.. And btw the good news? the fire burned 36 acres yesterday.

def Cleistocactus .. and most likely strausii . The flowers are a dead give away. Cliesto means closed.. and of course refers to the sorta oddly shaped flowers

Just an FYI, if you are interested in reading more about Lophophora you should read Anderson's book on Peyote, I have read parts of it, and it's interesting.
