Re: Indentification help !
It looks very much like E. paucicostata (NCL) = Eriosyce taltalensis ssp. paucicostata (Kattermann). Allthough the red stamen color is a diagnosic feature of Eriosce taltalensis ssp. taltalensis.... I got a similar plant that resists my attempts to categorize it too. Eriosyce taltalensis (Nc. taltal...

Re: Neochilenia ?
Eriosyce recondita ssp.iquiquensis is quite a wide subspecies now. it includes plants over a wide distance in the northermost (=driest) part of Chile. Many of the sites were they were described don´t hold any living cacti any more. It makes it even more thrilling to sow some more of these... Here ar...

Re: Contest 78 : Dicussion and related Pictures
Maybe Maja grows all kinds of odd smileys in her back yard?... BTW: great selection of entries so far. It payed off to make the emes of the contest a little wider once in a while (but maybe not all of the times because this might get boring too then?) another possibility for a pink flower ...

Re: Contest 78 : Dicussion and related Pictures

For me as a non native speaker it is hard to imagine the exact meaning of both pink and purple. Maybe some could show what those two colors are meant to look like. Another example of (pink?) Gy...

Re: Contest 78 : Dicussion and related Pictures
Oh wow, what a variety of pink flowered plants. I especiallly liked the delicate flowers on the Sclerocactactus (growing in such a harsh environment) and the Anacampseros flower. In fact I usually vote for a succulent flower in the contests in spite of the fact /or because I don´t grow any (well alm...
