Mine is indeed very dull in the appearance, so I guess it's then a G. Buenekeri rather than horstii that I first thought.

I've got what I thought was a G. horstii recently throw up an offset, prompting me to do some research into the speices to see when I could cut it off and propagate it. That's when I found it's virtually identical to G. buenekeri, least I can't see any real difference between the 2 in pictures I've ...

Thanks. Just hate how they come from the both stores and cactus nursery without a proper name. And not thinking about name in the way one I bought the other week had, just "spike" :lol: Still trying to figure out what that one fully is, all I know is it can get some quite spectactular flow...
