Re: lack of baggie trust
I guess my main worry is that I didn't create a spotlessly clean enough environment, although I put a lot more work and time into the prep than I do when I sow in the open. Bleach, washing, rinsing, more bleach, rinsing, heat treated soil in the microwave That's some serious prep!! I use the baggie...

Re: Echnocereus during dormancy
I've found my claret cups to be a bit on the soft side even when full of water. Best to wait and see. You are growing E. mojavensis outside in Louisiana? That's interesting to me. The plant is a real dry, dry desert rat, although it does get some winter rain in habitat. Aren't there mojavensis plant...

Re: Ring Flash
A simple step up ring say 46 to 52 will get most ring flashes to fit on your 46mm lens thread. Of course I'm not sure about any particular ring flashes compatibility with the G1's hot shoe.kfruit wrote:Anyone know of a ring flash that actually fits the Panasonic G1 46mm thread?

Beautiful growth for 5 years in CT, Andy. How do you winter it over? Cool? Cold? Dark? Late September to most of October no water but stays outside since its too warm in the basement then. Rain is a problem during that time, its a choir to keep moving it around. Cool basement November to April, not...

Sure, a local store has got 14" standard clay pots as well as even bigger non standard ones. By the time it needs to move up it will certainly be a hand full.CactusFanDan wrote: Will you be able to get a bigger pot for it when it needs repotting from that one?

Can you take a close up picture of the spines, esp. near the top? C. tupizensis has some spines with a distinctive golden-brown tinge mixed in with the whiter spines ( C. strausii typically has just the whitish spines). Here's a close up. the yellowy centrals do have brown tips. 5years2.jpg

Here's a picture of my "Little Monk" clump, You had asked before about its growth habit which you can see is very flat to the ground and spreading like a fan. The new pads point toward the sun as they grow but will go flat in the fall and stay that way.

I went back and named everything so that you can see whats what. I've got a lot more than that just many haven't bloomed yet so they often go don't get their picture taken. Yeah those are "hens n chicks" (Sempervivum) which are great for the cactus garden. They suffer a bit during the hott...

I haven't posted in awhile due to a health issue I've been going through the last two months. I still took some pictures to show. The reichenbachii, viridiflorus and some of the missouriensis were seed grown by me. E. missouriensis up02.jpg O. polyacantha up05.jpg O. humifusa in a sea of Sedum up06....
