Re: Cactus Advice
Ants in and of themselves are not cactus pests, ... I have to disagree, Steve. I have had ants nibble and do quite a bit of damage to the roots on a couple of very old Echinocactus grusonii for the last couple of years. My solution was to fill a 50gal pail with water and add dish detergent. I dunk ...

Re: Mega Wash Frequency Altered Water

Re: Some notes on Massonia species
Anyone else here growing Massonias? I really like these winter active bulbs a lot! Currently the naming of species is quite a mess, according to things I hear. Lots of changes being made, lots of species being lumped and splitted again.... I have just acquired a Massonia hirsuta which is or used to...

Air pruning and Hydroponic Net Pots
I am about to start using small 2" and 3" air pots to start seeds and grow my plants. I came across this by browsing and it has highly sparked my interest. This is the concept and where my starting point began. http://air-pot.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Ba...

Re: Mesemb soil frustration, please advise!
...With the mushroom compost I've read its often loaded with various pesticides and potentially heavy metals unless you buy it from a reputable source or organic... I doubt that is true since it is an edible product they are producing. Even so, unless you are planning on eating your plants wouldn't...

Re: Where does one find a "sandy loam"?
I have been using mushroom compost as my "soil". I can't tell you if it will be good after prolonged use but so far it seems to fit the bill as best as I can get here. There does not appear to be any peat but it does have some larger chunks that I just sift out. To me it feels like "s...
