Great entry AndyCT! Other succulents are often built very interesting in the close view. Why don´t I grow more of those anyway?

Re: Contest 79 : Dicussion and related Pictures
Hi Dan , that one is much better! I would have suggested that you might think about replacing it with a better exposure too. I really like the subject you chose! about Rimacactus: I took a picture of my 4 month old seedlings today. Let´s see if I can manage to post it today. edit: Here they are (I h...

Re: Contest 79 : Dicussion and related Pictures
I sowed about 40 seeds this spring and some 15 or so germinated. I keek spraying them in an open plastic baggy. The small seedlings look shrunken but most of them well.... well so far they do.

Re: Contest 79 : Dicussion and related Pictures
No need for a flower to take a great Makro Shot!
PS the E. laui on it´s own roots is amazing. Don´t water too much and don´t put it in full sun. Rimacactus lives in those cracks of the rocks with some condensating water running down but no rain ever.

Re: Contest 79 : Dicussion and related Pictures
I coould have used that on that very DEAD Tephrocactus, Dave. Too bad it ran out of stock....But the point I was going to make was that the one in the first picture looks quite unique with all those brown fungus hyphae around its stem segments  Heres one more Macro shot of today

Bigger isn´t always better- but it should be an unusual view of things (in this case plants). Great picture entries everybody.

Re: Contest 79 : Dicussion and related Pictures
I think we shouldn´t draw the line between close up and true Macro Photography too closely. Your great picture of R. heliosa also shows some features of the flower one wouldn´t normally notice with plain sight.

Re: Contest 79 : Dicussion and related Pictures
Good start of the contest . Those two pictures allready show the range of this month topic. If you go close enought we will get a competley different view of our favourites. Unfortunately with this lens (40mm), this is about maximum enlargement, but it still makes an interesting view of the tiny Epi...
