More sun? Honestly, I was afraid half a day of 110° Sonoran Desert sun would burn it to a crisp, as it is it seems to tolerate it quite well. All the light green is new growth from the past 6 - 8 weeks. My thought was to pot it and leave it outside nearly all the time, but bring it in for the 3 - 10...

I've been here six years, previous owner built the home seven years prior. Funny thing is that I found the builder's landscape blueprints recently, and it shows a bunch of plants that apparently didn't survive those seven years (previous owners were part-time residents). Among the missing from the f...

yeah, I don't know about the lack of sun-light making them skinnier or not, I think it gets some sun-light too. It has some arms on it maybe take some cuttings of those? Also the water and the frost might be limiting it as well. As tempting as that is, I think I'll have to pass. It's a Zone 10 plan...

If poor conditions can render a thick cactus thin, this may be a candidate, though it has managed to reach a height of 7'. The previous homeowner stuck it in this odd little corner that certainly impairs its access to sunlight. In addition, if you look at the first pic, you'll see an HVAC drain pipe...

Thanks for the push, that's very helpful. I agree, Stenocereus seems at least nearly certain. In regard to stellatus, that doesn't seem quite so sure, as you say. My cactus is thinner (diameter 3½"), and it is entirely columnar, and not shrubby at all. At 7' tall, its spread is only 18".

African Milk Tree

I purchased and planted an African Milk Tree (Euphorbia trigona) a couple of months ago, and it's doing spectacularly, having grown several inches in height along with some new branches. My concern is the upcoming winter. This plant in tagged for Zone 10b and up, I am in Zone 9, and it is my underst...

I've looked and looked online and never seen anything quite like it. In six years, I've never seen it flower. It's about 7' tall. http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/userpix/2961_cactus1_1.jpg http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/userpix/2961_cactus2_1.jpg http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/userpix/2961_cactus3...
