hello all. Thanks for the advice about joining the CSS. I have been thinking about doing that since I got all my cacti. Daiv, I enjoy the forum very much. It's been a good start for me to get acquainted with what I might need to know. Peterb, well someday maybe I will see you at one of the events. A...

hello from sunny/right now rainy/windy Black Canyon City, AZ
Hello all. I have been here a few days learning the mysteries of the world of cacti. I live in central AZ and am lucky to have many cacti growing in the wild (and my yard) around me. I am inventorying all the pictures that I have and will post some of them soon. At the moment I am un-employed (like ...

To me the dead giveaway is the areoles or whatever they are called. They look closely to what the ones on all the C. gigantea look like ar...

Once again I suppose I am lucky since I got the heck outta the mid-atlantic area. I am glad I am not stuck shoveling cactus killing snow right now and can relax and watch it rain again. I will have to upload some of my own pics to show what the area that I live in looks like. (Pretty much the same a...

hmm, I may not know what any of those cacti are but I love them. I have been fascinated with what I call prickly pear since I was a little kid and had the misfortune of getting the bigger spines in my leg while I was running down a hill in SE Pennsylvania. Of course I am slowly learning the names of...

Cactus hack job?
Hi. I am sorta new to the world of cacti, having been a transplant to the arid lands in Arizona from SouthEastern Pa. In fact when I was little I had a small cactus, I think it was called a fishhook cactus or something like that(I know its in the mammillaria family but have no idea what it was) whic...
