Re: Did I say this weather is CRAZY??

We have been very lucky to have had a very mild winter in Florida this year. I keep waiting for a "late" freeze though, so I don't think I'll be able to relax about the cold here for another couple of weeks. I have a lot of tender spring growth in my yard because of the mild temps, a hard ...

They'd look a heck of a lot better! If that is water soluable paint they might look normal some day; if not, that paint is there for the foreseeable future.

Sorry, it is an Aloe. But, knowing that is not necessarily going to make it easier to ID!

Re: Adenium Troubles?

I think it would be a problem to grow inside year round, but that depends on what you are willing to do to keep it going.

Re: IDs (mostly) done, now to repot properly

I'm with Steve here... Use gravel for top dressing, if you want to hold the soil down, otherwise, screen or even a piece of coffee filter in the bottom of the pot, soil mix and your plant are all you need. To clarify - I only use perlite when I have to, but I often suggest it as it is the easiest ad...

Re: Adenium Troubles?

This is a pretty good short course on Adenuim culture: http://www.dbg.org/system/files/41/original/Adeniums.pdf?1279065141" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I keep mine outside in the summer, and in the greenhouse in winter. They drop leaves naturally when they go dormant, and...

Re: Bargain bin mystery succulents

If I use a premixed cactus soil, I ALWAYS mix it 50/50 with perlite. Then I change it out as soon as I can mix up a better batch of soil. I would think that it is probably the same with bonsai soil, though I have no experience with that. In my experience it seems to me that succulents are better abl...

Re: What is the course of this

The damaged spots on the first plant are not going to go away, the leaves will always have scars, so you will have to contend with that. In the second picture the black looks almost like sooty mold rather than rot (if it is you should be able to clean it off with soapy water and a soft cloth.) Sooty...

Re: Where to go near Solvang ??

There is an orchid farm in SB that we went to (some succulents too), but the best by far is Huntington Gargens, so worth the extra miles! Failing that, any winery would do, beautiful scenery in which to drown your sorrow at missing Lotus Land! (Go up to Terry Hoagues winery in Passo Robles! Best win...

Re: Bargain bin mystery succulents

I have many succulents, and I love them all, but I have a hard time IDing the species so I keep them all labeled. (At my age I'm lucky to remember my own species!) I also have many mixed pots of succulents, and as long as they all like the same watering schedule they do fine together. Plants that ha...
